Does Corkcicle have lead?
Last reviewed July 2026.
It doesn't say. We could locate no current Corkcicle statement about lead or its vacuum-sealing method (checked 2026-07-14). For history's sake: a 2018 independent XRF report (Lead Safe Mama) measured very high lead in a base component of one Corkcicle canteen that its packaging labeled lead-free — an old, single-product finding that predates current production and which we note here as exactly that, not as a verdict on today's products. If Corkcicle publishes a sealing-method or lead statement, this row updates — the source wins.

How to read this
Nearly every insulated bottle on the market seals its vacuum with a small pellet at the base, and the industry-standard pellet contains lead — sealed under a metal cap, away from the drink and your hands. The questions that separate brands are which sealing method they chose and whether they say so plainly: a documented lead-free seal, an acknowledged-and-encapsulated pellet, or silence. "Accessible components are lead-free" is a carefully scoped claim — see how the sealing methods differ and what a damaged base cap changes.
Which brands document a lead-free seal
Corkcicle not saying is not the same as Corkcicle using lead — we have no evidence either way, which is the whole problem. These brands removed the ambiguity by publishing what their seal is made of.
| Brand | Line | What they document |
|---|---|---|
| Hydro Flask Amazon ↗ | Bottles & tumblers (TempShield insulation, 2013+) | "For over a decade, Hydro Flask has NOT had lead in our sealing process" |
| Owala Amazon ↗ | FreeSip bottles & tumblers | "All Owala bottles and tumblers… are and always have been lead free" |
| Klean Kanteen Amazon ↗ | Insulated bottles (TKWide, Classic) | Seals with silica/glass plugs — all products lead-free |
Documented means the brand states its sealing method publicly and we read the statement. It is a claim about disclosure, not a lab result.

Drinkware Score indexes what brands publish about their vacuum-seal construction and what the public record shows, with attribution — we test nothing and make no health claims. A verdict describes the state of the published evidence about a sealing method, not the safety of any bottle. A sealed, inaccessible component containing lead is a different fact from lead a user can touch, and we keep those facts separate on every page. If a brand publishes new evidence, the page changes — the source always wins.
